The Heart

What is the heart? The heart is a pump that brings blood through the body. It is a working muscle. It pumps 9 quarts of blood a day. What does the heart do? The heart sends blood through your body. The blood is sent through the lungs to get oxygen. It takes away waste and brings in oxygen and nutrients.
What are the parts of the heart and what do they do? The heart is made up of 4 blood filled chambers. The atria fill with blood coming back from the body. Ventricles pump the blood through the body. The septum is a thick wall of muscle separating the left and right sides of the heart.
How can you keep your heart healthy? To keep your heart healthy you need to exercise a lot. And you need to eat lots of healthy food and don’t eat lots of sugar. If you don’t smoke you won’t damage your heart and blood vessels.
What is heartbeat and pulse? Heartbeat, before each beat your heart fills up with blood and then squirts it out to the body. If you run around a lot you need more oxygen so the heart needs to pump more. When you’re resting your heart pumps about 70 to 100 times a minute. Your pulse is the same as your heart beat you can find it on your neck and wrist.
Some interesting facts about the heart are that when it beats it sounds like lub-dub. Also it is one of the three main parts of the circulatory system. Your heart has four main parts. A heart, the blood, and blood vessels.
