Magma consists of remelted material from the earth's crust and fresh materials from other regions. Lava is the word for molten rock, which is on the surface of the earth. Lava comes in different forms, some of them are: Pahoehoe, black lava, and bomb lava. When magma is erupted onto the earth's surface in the form of lava, it becomes silicate rock. The term lava can describe active flows from volcanoes.
