Strato Volcanoes

Ancient Greeks and Romans believed that the gods controlled volcanoes. We now know differently. Strato volcanoes are one of many types of volcanoes. Strato volcanoes are formed when a continental plate and an oceanic plate crash into each other. The oceanic plate is denser so it goes under the continental plate. The oceanic plate crashes up under the continental plate and creates a strato volcano. As the oceanic plate crashes up under the continental, magma is created from the melting oceanic plate. The magma is pushed slowly out of the strato volcano. The magma is pushed out too slowly, so the volcano spout begins to build up pressure. After to much pressure is built, the volcano explodes.
