6-3 ☺

Steps:

1. Take EVERYTHING to one side of the equation.

2. Factor!

3. Set everything equal to 0.

4. Finally....SOLVE.

Example:

x² = 6x [Subtract 6x from both sides]
-6x -6x
_______

x² -6x = 0
_______
x = 0 x - 6 = 0 [Add 6 to each side]
+6 +6
_________
x = 6

Vocabulary:
1. Zero Product Property - For any real numbers a and b, if ab = 0, then either a = 0, b = 0 or both a and b equal zero. [ at least one of the factor equals zero.]

Example:

If (x + 5)(x - 7) = 0, then x + 5 = 0 and/or x - 7 =0.
