Solar energy is a renewable energy source. So solar energy doesn’t pollute. Solar is the Latin word for “sun.” Ancient Greeks built their homes to get the most sunlight during winter. Solar panels are made from sand. The process to make solar energy is called photovoltaics. It is expensive to use photovoltaics. More than 10,000 American families use solar energy to power everything.
