Did you know the first solar panel originated in Europe by a British astronomer? John Herschel was the one who created the first solar panel collected heat in a small box. Modern day solar panels convert sunlight into electricity. This energy can heat water. This energy can also heat spaces or homes. In the year 2006 there were 15 solar panels in the U.S. 10 of these panels were in California. The other 5 panels are in Arizona. Some houses uses solar panels for it power. Most houses have their panels on the roof. And that’s some facts about solar energy. 
