Introduction

Huntington’s Disorder, also known as HD or Huntington's chorea is a Genetic disorder that is caused by “genetically programmed degeneration of the cells called neutrons.” This can cause uncontrollable movements, loss of Intel dual falters and multiple emotional break downs. This disease is found in all countries and is passed down from parent to child. Just a single abnormal gene can cause HD. HD usually is not noticeable till the person is in there 40’s and 50’s. In the United States there are at least 30,000 people with HD and 150,000 more that may develop HD.

Problems With HD

When being effected with HD for long period of time, it can result and very difficult and serious issues. Some tend to loose ability to communicate using speech. After this there tend to be various obnoxious behaviors. When affected, you tend to loose abilities like eating, drinking, driving and communicating at all. This is very difficult to treat. The person with has difficult doing almost anything. There are few things that they may know how to do just because they are very simple.


Genetics of Huntington

This is a genetic disorder because this disease is passed down from either the father or mother. One of the 23 genes given by each of the parents is abnormal and has a problem. This can cause the child to have HD or not. There is a 50% chance that the child will and there is a 50% that the child won’t.


Treatment

A person with HD can be given medicine by it will not cure them just help control there emotions and actions. The disease may still affect the person in the way that it would if having or not having medication. The medication can also have other affects such as fatigue and tiredness for most of time and medication.

Prevention

There are no cures for HD but only medications to help with its side affects. Some Doctors are saying otherwise and that someday there will be a cure for all with HD. There is no way to prevent HD, because there is no way to change a persons DNA.
