Introduction:
Autism is a brain development disorder that impairs social interaction and communication, and causes restricted and repetitive behavior, all starting before a child is three years old. This set of signs distinguishes autism from milder autism spectrum disorders (ASD) such as Asperger syndrome. (Wikipedia) Problems: After the age of two it becomes more clear that the child is different from other children in his/her age group. Autism symptoms includes a preference to play alone, odd communication skill, such as echoing, resistance to change of any kind and unpredictable behavior and hyperactivity. Genetics: Autism is very heritable, although the genetics of autism are not easily understood; it is generally unclear which genes are responsible. Treatment: There is no one accepted treatment or cure for autism. Food, vitamin supplements, behavior work and medications are used by parents to treat their autistic child. Prevention: There is no prevention for autism at this time. |
