The sugar act started in 1764 in new port Rhode Island. 2. Rhode Island people burnt down 2 English ships in 1775. 3. In 1776 in Rhode Island was the first colony to disagree with King George the 3rd. 4. In 1636 Roger Williams founded Providence found land received from Indians. 5. In 1637 Anne Hutchinson founded Portsmouth after being banished from Massachusetts for heresy. Geography (Describe the land, rivers, mountains, lakes, etc): - sandy beaches - lagoons - salt ponds - Sakonnet river (a major river) - 200 feet above sea level Attractions/Places to Visit: 1. Narragansett Bay 2. Blackstone Valley 3. Lake Washington Other Interesting Facts: Yearly Rhode Island would have Tuna fishing contests they would also have watermelon eating contest too. Rhode Island’s famous recipes were the Granny Smith apple crisp. |
