The Announcement: The candidate makes an announcement that hoe or she will be running in the primaries.

Primaries and Caucuses: People in the Republican or Democratic party vote to see who will be running in the popular election.

Conventions: The candidate announces who his vice president will be and it is to finalize that he or she will be running.

The Popular Election: The people in the Republican or Democrat vote for the next president.

The Electoral College: This is a group of electors that vote based on their state. The candidate that gets 270 votes wins.

Inauguration: This is when the new president takes over the White House.

Definitions of Important Terms

Election: The people vote for who will be president.
Electoral College: A group of people that vote for who will be president based on his state.
Caucus: A gathering of people that decides who will be running in their party Republican or Democrat.
