Seven easy steps to elect a president

Step 1 Announce: In this step a person needs to announce "I want to become president" and file papers.
Step 2 Primaries & caucuses: Caucuses are small groups of people getting together to decide whom they want to support as their's party's candidate. Primaries are elections where everyone in the party who is interested vote's for the party candidate. In these elections, party members get to vote for the candidate that will represent their party in the upcoming general election.
Step 3 National conventions: At the end of primaries and caucuses , each party holds a national convention to finalize the selection of one Presidential nominee. During this time, each Presidential candidate chooses a running-mate for Vice-President.
Step 4 Campaign: Once a candidate has won their party's nomination, he begins mapping campaign strategy . He states his position on various current issues. He steps up efforts to raise money and recruit volunteer workers. Fans of the candidates will also hold up signs that might say vote for obama or mcain for president.
Step 5 Election day: This is the day when the people finally vote for the president, this happens ever four years on the first tuesday on november. Its a legal holiday in most states. Their not really the president until January 20th.
Step 6 Electoral college: The electoral college is a group of people who gather to cast their votes for the various presidential candidates.Each state has 2 senators and a number of representatives. Each state gets a certain number of electors, based on each states total number representation in congress. In december the electors cast their votes. When the votes are counted in January, the presidential candidate that gets more half of the votes (270) wins the election. Awesome we got a new president .
Step 7 Inauguration: The ceremony of which the newly elected president takes the oath on January 20 of office and officially begins serving a term.

Conventions: Late in the summer Democratic and Republican delegates assemble for their national conventions held at different times in separate cities. A convention is a political circus, complete with wild cheering parading delegates and stirring speech making.
Electors: There are 2 electors for each state and how many there are in the house of representatives which is 535 people that vote for the candidate that count the most votes from their state.
The General Election: The general election is when the people vote on the first Tuesday of November every 4 years.
