Steps to electing a president

Step 1: A president candidate first makes announcement that he or she is running for president.
Step 2: Primaries and caucuses are when party members get to vote for each candidate.
Step 3: At the end of each primaries and caucuses each party holds a convention during this time each presidential candidate chooses a running mate.
Step 4: Candidates campaign throughout the country to win the support of voters.
Step 5: In november people vote for one candidate each state actually cast their votes for a group of people known as electors.
Step 6: Each state gets a certain number of electors based on the state total of representation in congress.
Step 7: In december the electors cast their votes when the voters are counted the presidential candidate that gets more than half wins the election.
