The Slip
It was a nice sunny Monday morning at Darcel Senior Public School. The kids were in class and the school was quiet. In Mrs. Larkin and Mrs. Romanick’s grade 6/7 split class, the students were doing plays for drama class. “ Students please stop. Would anyone like to take down the attendance to the office?” said Mrs. Larkin. Almost everybody raised their hand. “Okay Maddie, you can take the attendance to the office.” said Mrs. Romanick. “Thank you.” said Maddie. Maddie went down the halls happily to take down the attendance. “Good morning Mrs. Schneider.” said Maddie. “ Hello Maddie.” said Mrs. Schneider. “ Here is the attendance.” Said Maddie. “Thank you.” Mrs. Schneider replied. “ I will see you later Mrs. Schneider”. Said Maddie. “Bye” said Mrs. Schneider. When Maddie was going back to drama class, the janitor was moping the floor. Maddie was walking quickly to get back to class. There was a rumor that if you slip on water or liquid then you will die because you can break you skull. If don’t die the first time then you will die the next time which is very unexpected. When the janitor just finished moping the floor, Maddie continued walking and she did not read the “WET FLOOR” sign and she slipped head first onto the hard floor. She was in pain and felt weak. She was afraid so she started to cry. She thought she was going to die from the rumor. The janitor went to Maddie and said “Maddie are you okay? That was a bad slip. Let me take you to the school nurse then the nurse can call your mom.” said the janitor. “Thank you.” said Maddie. At the nurse’s office, the nurse said that Maddie needs stitches. The nurse called her mom. At the hospital, Maddie thought about her slip thinking maybe she should read and follow important signs. As she got her stitches she yelled because her head was hurting. With Maddie’s staples on her head, she realized being safe is a good thing and never think that you will never get hurt because accidents do happen no matter what. |
