My animal is the domestic ferret. My animal lives in the wild. It is also called the European polecat. It lives in dens created and left by other animals.

It is a carnivore. Their protection is that they use their slender bodies to escape from predators. The black footed ferret often lives right in the middle of a prairie dog colony.

How do you know a ferret is living in a prairie dog colony? There will be a mound of flesh in the colony for it to feed on.
