Sam Houston wanted annexation and he he didnt mind the Native Americans and he wanted the debt.

Mirabeau Lamar-
Mirabeau wanted education, and no Native Americans he also wanted a strong military.

Sam Houston succeeded in getting Texas annexation.

Mirabeau Lamar-
Mirabeau Lamar did not annexation he had believed that Texas would become a powerful nation.

Policies on the military

Sam Houston-
Sam Houston had cut the size of the army and tried to sell the navy’s ship sent most of the army name on leave

Mirabeau Lamar-
Mirabeau Lamar rebuilt navy and increased the size of the army. He also wanted a strong military.

Polices on Native Americans

Sam Houston-
Sam Houston had lived with the Cherokees and tried to improve and renew relations with Native Americans he felt Texans should respect the Native clams to their land.

Mirabeau Lamar-
Mirabeau Lamar believed the native Americans had no fair clam to the lands they occupied he ordered the removal of the Cherokees from Texas.

Relations with Mexico

Sam Houston-
Sam Houston did not want war with Mexico he had felt Santa Anna’s release would lead to better chance to settle problems peacefully.

Mirabeau Lamar -
Mirabeau Lamar had wanted the military to force Mexico to recognize Texas as republic.

Financial Problems

Sam Houston -
Sam Houston had tried to cut cost through eliminating dozens of government positions and the debt continued to grow. The debt rose from 1.25 millions to 2 million.

Mirabeau Lamar-
During Mirabeau Lamar presidency the dept had rose to 7 million.

Sam Houston would be a very good president for Texas because he didn’t want war with Mexico because he wants peace with them. He also doesn’t want any problems with any other countries or states. If you vote for Sam Houston he will make a difference in every ones life.
