Boron is a soft, brown, crystalline nonmetallic element, that came from kernite, boric acid, and borax and used in flares, propellant mixtures, fireworks, nuclear reactor control elements, abrasives, and hard metallic.

The name Boron originates from a combination of words taken from borax and carbon.It was isolated by Sir Humphrey Davy, Gay-Lussac and L. J. Thenard in 1808. Boric acid is sometimes found in volcanoes
