My Element belongs to the Carbon Family. The origin of the name Silicon, comes from "silicis" meaning flint, which came from the sweish man who producded a sample of silicon, his name was Jons Jackob Berzelius. The element was discovered by Antoine Lavoisier in 1789, yet he didn't know he had discovered it, and Thomas Thomason founded the name in 1831.
Silicon is regularly used to make the bases of todays technology, such as computers. The sand and in the silicon is mixed with minerals and clay so it can create bricks, and the sand can also make glass. It is also used to create cookware, medicine (in implants), lubricants, and insulation. The soild form of silicon does not recact with oxygen, water, and most acids.
