I picked MICA because I really liked the presentation the lady gave us and the catalogs were well made. MICA was ranked in the top 4 of 220 graduate programs in the visual arts by U.S. News & World Reports and is the oldest continuously degree-granting college of art in the nation. The address of MICA is 1300 Mount Royal Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21217. You can find out more at www.MICA.edu.

Events- There are many events that take place at MICA showcasing all students work. Currently, MICA's Juried Undergraduate Exhibition is taking place, which highlights the best of the best of undergraduate students' artwork, and it opens Thursday, Oct. 29.
There also is the MICA Art Market, sponsored by the MICA Alumni Association, which provides an opportunity for holiday shoppers and collectors to find new works by emerging artists as well as collectibles from leading artists in their respective fields. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk one-on-one with the artists about their work while enjoying the market's lively atmosphere and supporting the local economy. The market fosters student professional development and peer-to-peer networking, and provides funding for need-based student scholarships.
Admission-
Portfolio-A portfolio of 15-20 pieces of artwork is required. You should include examples of artwork that are a product of art instruction as well as work that reflects your individual ideas and directions. It is strongly suggested that drawings from observation (rather than from imagination or copied from photographs) also be included.
GPA- An official transcript has to be submitted.
References- The website does not specify how many letters of rec you need but they are recommended from teachers (both art and academic), college placement advisors, or guidance counselors.
Essay- Choose one of the topics listed on the application form, write an essay, and attach it to your application.
Activities- Compile a list of activities, interests, and honors as explained on the application form, and attach it to your application.
Tuition-
Per year, MICA’s tuition is $33,000 for 12 to 19.5 units. For four years that would be $132,000. There are many scholarships, grants, and loans available. Eligibility is based on a federal formula that considers family income as well as other factors including the number of family members, the number of students in college, and the assets of both the student and parents. There are three houses you could live in, a double room is $3,550 per semester and a single room is $3,900 per semester. On-campus costs include utilities, local telephone service, and high speed Internet access; Meyerhoff House residents also have cable TV.
Thoughts-
I think this school would be really cool to go to especially since it’s so small and I would be able to get a lot of hands on work with my professors. If I were to go there, I would probably go into a General Fine Arts major because I would be able to experience a lot of all the arts.
