| Abraham was born in Ur. He lived most his life in the Northern Mesopotamian city of Haran. Abraham and his family worshipped only one God unlike the Mesopoatamians that worshipped seven Gods. One day God spoke to him and said to leave his people,country,and father's house and go to a land that God would show him where to go. Abraham left and took his wife Sarah and other family members and traveled west. They soon reached to a place where there were regions of hills,coastal plains,and valleys in about 2,000 B.C . The were along the Mediterranean Sea. This region was known as Canaan they kept on traveling until they rached a place called Shechem. God and Abraham had an agreement that , that land was for Abraham's children. Abraham's descendants home country would be Canaan. The name Abraham means " father of many nations" .Through Isaac son of Abraham , Abraham became the father of the Jewish people. Also through his son Ishmael he became father of the Arabs. | |
