All about me!
Hello, I am the heart! I am part of the circulatory system of the human body. My main function is to pump blood through the blood vessels by repeated, rhythmic contractions. The main parts of me are the left atrium, the right atrium, the left ventricle, the right ventricle, the aorta, and the superior vena cava. I am about the size of an adult’s clenched fist. I am in the center of a human’s chest and behind the sternum. My coworkers or neighbors are the arteries, capillaries, and veins. Some fun facts about me are that in a year I pump enough blood to fill more than thirty competition size swimming pools. Also, I have a pacemaker in me that sends out signals that make my heart muscle contract. If this pacemaker inside me breaks or gets damaged, a doctor replaces it with an artificial, battery-operated pacemaker.

Health: To keep the heart healthy you should do several things to ensure it is safe and healthy. To keep the heart healthy you should have daily exercise, and try to have less stressful life. Also, to keep the heart healthy you should not smoke. There are many illnesses and diseases thatare in the heart but two examples are coronary heart disease, and a heart attack. A coronary artery disease, also known as coronary heart disease, which is a condition when plaque builds inside coronary arteries. Arteries supply the heart muscle with oxygen-rich blood so if plaque is building up inside them the heart get less oxygen-rich blood so the body gets less oxygen. Then, a heart attack occurs when the blood supply in part of the heart muscle, myocardium, is severely reduced or stopped. This happens due to one or more coronary arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle is blocked.
