Hi my name is The Pancreas; I spend most of my time creating insulin. I also spend my time breaking down starches, proteins, and fat. I like to hang out with my pals in the digestive system. But I especially like to do stuff with my neighbor the stomach. I am constantly fighting off and regulating how much glucose is in the blood. It gets boring but it is what i am best at.

There are many dieses that can occur in the pancreas. If you do not keep it healthy you can develop pancreatic cancer or diabetes. Pancreatic cancer is when too many of one type of cell in the pancreas are created and it builds up into a tumor. There are many different things you can do to put you at risk of pancreatic cancer. Some of these include smoking, eating a lot of food that is high in fat or sugar, also other problems with your pancreas like diabetes can put you at risk, you could get it if your family has a history of cancer, being inactive, or being around certain chemicals, or drinking a lot of alcohol. Pancreatic cancer can cause loss of weight for no reason, abdominal pain, and skin and eyes can turn yellowish. Diabetes is when the pancreas is unable to create insulin or the cells that react to the insulin don’t notice it. Diabetes can be caused by white blood cells attacking the pancreas, old age, or inactivity. This organ is definitely one that you don't want to keep healthy.
