HISTORY
The developer of Queens Row, the original community to constitute the parish of Queens Row Village Homeowners Association and their first project is to build a chapel to serve their spiritual needs. The developer’s bodega was borrowed and it became the first chapel. The subdivision grew rapidly and was able to build in 1980 a modest chapel at a cost of P80, 000 through the initiative of Fr. Dizon. By that time, the growing community felt the need for a permanent priest to take charge of its religious and spiritual needs. Even without a resident priest, the community was active in foresting religious celebrations such as fiestas, Christmas, and the like. Fr. Dizon organized a pastoral council in the community and gave it the task to take charge of its affairs. The pastoral council was very active and was able to provide regularly a priest to celebrate mass in its chapel every Sunday. In May 1976, in a meeting with Fr. Dizon, they chose Our Lady Queen of Peace and Good Voyage as their patroness.
Finally in January 2, 1982, Bishop Felix Perez of the Diocese of Imus created the Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in a formal decree. One of the conditions for establishing a parish was the requirement that the parish can support its parish priest. In order to ensure that such condition can be met, the pastoral council gathered several families to pledge a quota that will be guaranteed available every month to support the parish priest and his staff. However, as events proved later, the quota was not necessary since the community in its weekly contribution during mass, was able to put up the required amount.
The first problem of the parish was to build a permanent church. The problem dragged on for two decades. Despite of the problem facing the parish, the people had high hopes that Our Lady will help them…and She did.
Finally, during the term of Fr. Gene Rafal as parish priest, and through the assistance of General manager Cesar Sarino of the GSIS and the heirs of the developer of QRSI, our parish was able to secure a donated lot in 1994 on which a permanent church can be constructed. It is located in Area B of the subdivision proper. Fr. Gene quickly organized a church construction organization to take charge of the construction project. However, because of the priests’ reorganization at that time, Fr. Gene was reassigned elsewhere. Fr. Jimmy took over in 1997, and he requested the Church Construction Organization to construct a temporary church at the site that can be used immediately.
Fr. Jimmy died and after a lapse of almost 2 years, Fr. Paul de Leon took over on March 30, 2000upon Fr. Jimmy\'s death and resumed the construction of the rectory. It was largely through the efforts of Fr. Paul with the help of the parishioners that the temporary church which we are now using was completed.
Our parish is very cosmopolitan in terms of culture, tradition and religion due to its high composition of newly established subdivisions. However, it did not hinder Fr. Paul from initiating an intensive and massive consolidation of all the sectors in the community. Our church size has increased four times as much and we have increased the number of Sunday masses from three to five aside from those we hold in the different areas. Yet, our new church is still wanting in size. Needless to say, the numbers of baptisms, weddings, funeral masses, first communicants and confirmations have also increased from what the minimal number before.
When the diocesan reshuffle of priests came about, the TEAM MINISTRY is retained at our parish in the persons of Rev. Fr. Antonio A. Roxas, Rev. Fr. Carlito J. Laureta and Rev. Fr. Emmanuel B. Colmenar. They brought with them their fruitful years of ministry sa pastors or Our Lady of the Pillar Seminary and the individual parish lives. Their presence in our parish has introduced new ideas and awareness. Needless to say, our parish can look forward to years of more enriching experiences.
