The state we are researching is Texas. The capital of Texas is Austin, Texas. The population of Texas is 20,851,820. The date Texas became a state was Dec. 29, 1845. The governor of Texas is Rick Perry.

The state flag of Texas was adopted as the state flag when Texas became the 28th state in 1845. As with the flag with the flag of the United States, the blue stands for loyalty, the white represents strength, and the red is for bravery. The state flower of Texas is the blue bonnet. The state tree of Texas is the pecan tree. The state song of Texas is Texas, Our Texas. The state bird is the mocking bird.
