Colleges should start paying college athletes.
My reasons for saying this is that college athletes put their life and body on the line every time they play and what happens if they get injured really bad or die. Their family or theirselves would get no money at all just because they are playing for free. Another reason is that the money can help them pay their student loans or it can help them buy supplies for school which can help them pass their classes.
According to an opinion student survey on paid athletes in Sport Digest, 54 percent of respondents support the idea. Fifty-six percent believe “additional funding should come from the athletic department” of each university if the NCAA were to pay athletes.
Colleges officials may disagree with me because the college athletes are get a free education because of their scholarships. Also the college officials might say that the athletes know the risks of the sports they are playing and athletic departments would suffer financially after paying their own athletes.
College athletes do get free education but, the athletes put their lives in danger every single time they step on the field or court to play a game. The free education doesn’t mean nothing if they lose their lives and have nothing to show for their hard work.
If you were a college athlete and you put your body on the line wouldn\'t you like to get paid?
