Book Review
A Child Called “It” may be a short book but in between the covers there is a story of one child who beat the life threatening odds he was put up against. Young Dave was happy child up until a few years ago, his parents have been having troubles and Dave noticed that his mother wouldn’t put make up on or use perfume anymore. His mother would just lay on the couch and drink the day away. Problem is she didn’t ignore her family, but play cruel games with him everyday that leaves him almost died. He realized life would be the same and he would have to use all his courage and courage and unyielding determination to live another day. Dave’s mother would also make him do chores in unreasonable time frames or he wouldn’t be fed. If he would look at one of “The Mother’s” kids or her he would get a slap across the face. One day something so tragic happened that damaged not only his spirit, but showed how some weak spots of “Mother”. The day Dave knew something was wrong “Something looked wrong. Very wrong! I tried to strained my focus on Mother”. Loose yourself in this wonderful book to find out what happens next.
This book may be heart breaking, cruel and emotional but I enjoyed reading every page. You should ready this book because the writing of Dave Pelzer is so expectational, it is as thought the writing flows off the page and into your heart to make you feel every word you read. The young boy Dave, who is called “It” to his so called family, is treated like slave. My next reason for people to read this story is that its not only written so beautifully, but teaches a great lesson to those you are willing to it out of the story. Another reason people should read A Child Called “It” is because this book should be taken seriously, child abuse is a big crime and really happens around us. A Child Called “It” can help you open your eyes and see what can be happening around you without you even knowing its there. If you enjoy this book don’t just stop reading at this one, it is the first of a trilogy the next book is called A Lost Boy and then there is A Man Named Dave. All of these books are brilliantly written and anyone who can read at a 850 lexile should read these books.
