The Earth is like a peach because the Earth had three main layers like a peach has the skin, the meat, and the pit. While Earths has three main layers: the crust, the mantle, and the core. Most layers are made up of rock. But the innermost layer is mostly made of metal. Besides the main layers there are the lithosphere, the asthenosphere, inner core, and the outer core.
The Earths crust is the uppermost layer. It is made of granite and other low density rock. But below the ocean it is made of basalt. It is thin and its regular thickness is 40km, in the mountainous regions it is 70km, but in the ocean it is 7km. The mantle is a solid layer just below Earths crust. It is harder than then the crust. It contains less silica than iron. It is also 2900km thick so it takes up 2/3 of the Earths mass.
