Major Features:
some major features of an ancient Roman villas is, that back then they used to have Underground heating. This featured is made by having multiple tiles stacked up on top of one another to the heat is trapped underground. They use stone walls and terracotta tiles for rooves. They also had feature for decoration, such as mosaics , They used mosaic as floors and also for wall art. They used big grand collums not just to hold up the building structure, but to look nice. Technology, materials and methods: Back in the times of the Acient Romans, the wouldhave used Stone walls, window glass, lead water pipes, painted plaster, concrete, and terracotta, to build their homes. Building in Society: In the day, the only people that could own villas were the rich, wealthy Romans. They would live in villas because they are the only people who could aford land, animals and materials to build. Links To Today: When the romans invented all that they did, they knew that their inventions would stick around for a long while, and they did. Today we still use some of their inventions in our everyday lives. Back then they had Hypocast, wich was a underfloor heating system, they had piles of tiles piled up ontop of eachother, so the heat would get trapped in the floor. We still sort of use this method bt our is electric wire and loop it backwards and forwards under the concrete. another thing is we still use stone walls, Some people stillchoose to have there house ade out of stone. Another link would be, Marble and columns,We certainlstill use these matrials but for more grand buildings. We used marble and big colums in our very own Parliament House. |
