The purpose of this lab was to see does Orbit’s gum flavor last the longest. Chewing gum was made from the latex sap of a sapodilla tree, the sap was called chicle. Chewing gum sweetens, flavorings, and softeners. If students chew Orbit peppermint gum and other brands then Orbit gum’s flavor will last the longest. By having six 8th grader friends, I would give each friend a piece of the same kind a gum, then I would do the next one then the last one.
Procedure
1. Gather all materials
• 1 pack of peppermint Orbit gum
• 1 pack of peppermint Trident gum
• 1 pack of peppermint 5 gum
• Timer
2. Get 6 friends of 8th graders
3. Give each friend a piece of gum
4. Tell people to chew the gum until the first flavor is gone
5. Put the gum in your mouth when I say go
6. Put your gum in your mouth
7. Raise hand when flavor is gone
8. Record time until everyone is done

Claim And Evidence:
I claim that Orbit’s peppermint gum lasted than Trident’s and 5’s gum
Orbit’s gum flavor lasted 12:33 minutes. The Trident gum flavor lasted 4:43 minutes. And the 5’s gum lasted 5:25 minutes
Evidence-Based Explanation
The data does support the hypothesis. I claim that Orbit peppermint gum’s flavor would last longer than other brands flavor. I know this is to be true because Orbit’s gum flavor lasted 12:33 minutes. The other brands were Tridents that took 4:43 minutes and the 5’s gum 5:25 minutes.
Discussion
While doing this experiment there are many things I could change of the 2 gums that I used. I used trident and 5 of the peppermint gum that I used.
