Halite is a very interesting mineral with many interesting things that you may not know about this mineral yourself. So that being said let’s get to learning about Halite!

Halite is in some food you eat.Halite is the natural form of salt, since Halite is salt this mineral is a very common and well known mineral. There is a lot of demand for this mineral considering it is basically salt.

Now we will get to the important parts for this mineral. The first thing that is important to this mineral is streak, The streak color of this mineral is white. Now the color, there are many colors to Halite. The colors range from colorless to multi-colored and everything in between. The luster of this mineral is Vitreous, meaning glass or ceramic. The cleavage of Halite is cube like. There are ways to identify Halite, the way to identify Halite is if it has a salty taste to it. The hardness of this mineral is important also the hardness of this mineral is 2-2.5 so it is not that hard of a mineral.

Halite has many uses, one important use is something we use in the winter, road salt. So Halite could possibly be on roads you drive on during the time span of winter. Table salt is another use, when you put salt on food you are putting Halite on food. So Halite is a very important mineral to us.
