I completed this project in a manner of watching 4 half hour television shows called; The Backyardigans, Maya y Miguel, Dora la Exploradora, and Go Diego Go. I watched these shows on Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00am. There were many animals and brothers and sisters, persons of different races and moms and dads involved. The shows occurred in neighborhoods, and in a jungle. I observed the dialect and the gender distinction of words used in the language of the shows.
Exploring culture is great, language to me helps understand in a way the views of people in a culture and how they understand things as well. Understanding the way of life, rituals, dance, symbols and dress of cultures, one knows and understands the values, meanings and the way things are as well as, the way things are to be in the traditions of many cultures. The culture I celebrate relates to Latino culture for there is lots of family and events involved as well as colorful language. Love, care, sharing and togetherness. This is a normal cultural experience. The differences that I have noticed of cultures is the cooking for the area of climate and weather of where the Latino culture has come from is different from the culture that I come from. Also some of the sports that are played. The similarities are being with family and celebrating traditions. Many people have different views on a lot of things so many may see it in other ways. It was good to learn and comprehend what I had learned in school to Latino cultural around. It was fantastica!
