| The Stamp Act is the act where the British placed a tax on all printed papers. The act was placed on March 22, 1765. Legal documents, news papers, and playing cards were some of the things that were taxed. The money went toward the British Troops. The colonists got angry about this. It wasn’t so much the money that they cared about, they were mad that each of the colonies couldn’t have their own representative. They thought that they should have their own government, separate from the British. Eventually, after all the protest they repealed the act. This happened a year later. |
