Aphrodite has many symbols that represent who she is. A few of these symbols are the dove, the mirror, and the rose. Her symbols usually have to do with beauty or love, since she is the goddess of these things.

Like every other god Aphrodite has family. Her parents are Zeus and Dione. She has a son named Rhode. Two of her siblings are Ares and Athena.

One of the stories she appears in is the story of the Golden Apple.
This story begins when Eris the goddess of Discord is nit invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. Eris was very angry about this so she decided to throw a golden apple on the banquet table, saying that it was for the fairest one. Three goddesses claimed the apple; Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena. Zeus was told to decide, but having trouble doing so, he passed the responsibility to a Shepard named Paris. Each goddess offered the man things. Hera and Athena offered power and glory. Aphrodite offered him love and the most beautiful women in the world. Paris chose Aphrodite and Paris was given what he was promised.

Some of the modern day references to her are dove soap, Aphrodite cosmetics, and Venus shaving products.
