Ever wonder how it would be to live as a Greek god or goddess? Wonder what kind of God or Goddess you\'ll be, well I want to tell you about my friend Apollo here... He\'s the son of Zeus and Leto, said to be a mortal woman. Not only is he the youngest son but he also has an older sister named Artemis.
Two symbols that symbolize Apollo would be the bow and arrow and the lyre. The bow and arrow signifies the killing of the serpent Python, the lyre symbolizes him as being the god of music and dance. In the century we live in today Apollo\'s name is used in various ways. One way his name is used is \"The Apollo Theatre.\" It was designed to be made for musical entertainment and so they named it after a god of music and poetry. Another example would be The Apollo Space Program, this one was named because of the attraction towards Apollo\'s name as well as because he is also god of the Sun. A story in which Apollo appears in is in \"The Slaying of the Serpent Python.\" In that story the serpent Python was created by Gala (mother Earth) to guard the oracle. Apollo went to claim the shrine, he then slayed the dragon. Some people think that Apollo slew Python because he wanted to avenge his mother.
