Silver is one of the world’s precious metals.

Silver is a soft metal that has the highest electrical conductivity of any of the elements. Silver is mostly found in copper, lead and zinc deposits.

Distinguished silver rushes in the U.S. occurred in Colorado, Nevada, California and a region of British Columbia. In about 56 countries silver is mined, including Mexico, Peru, Australia and China.

Silver is used in different products such as coins, jewelry, silverware, plates, vases and cups. It’s also used as medical solutions to kill some bacteria and viruses.

Silver has no cleavage and is a silver-white to silver-gray color. Its streak is silver-white and as for luster, it is metallic. Silver’s hardness ranges from 2 ½ to 3, being able to be scratched by a finger nail as well as calcite.

Silver’s chemical composition is silver, often an alloy with gold and other metals. Its structure is CCP, or cubic close-packed. Rarely, silver will form crystals.

Silver has been used since ancient times to make things such as jewelry and vases. The skin of the ancient Egyptian gods was thought of by the people of ancient Egypt to be gold, but the gods’ bones were believed to be made of silver.
