During the night of June 16, 1775 the patriots set up their tents of the camp grounds the location of the Charleston Peninsula. Overlooking the town of Boston their destination was Bunker Hill. The troop was commanded by Colonel William Prescott. From the distance the troops could spot the British Army by boat. The patriots advanced closer to the British and went to Breeds Hill. On June 17, 1775 the British were surprised to see the patriots there. The British attacked in their special formation. Major General William Howe, leading the British forces, could have easily surrounded the patriots with his ships, but he was stupid and decided to take his troops uphill for head on head combat. There were 2,300 British Soldiers. The Patriots killed or wounded 1,054. At the end of an amazing battle the British pulled out a victory.
