Poseidon is the god of the seas. Two things he is represented by are : A trident, fish, and horses. Poseidon is the son of Cronus, and the brother of Hades and Zeus. Poseidon is the uncle of Athena, but they don\'t get along very well. One day they appeared before an Athens king. His name was Cecrops. He asked the gods Poseidon and Athena for a gift worthy of Athens. Poseidon gave them a stream of water, but it was salty so it wasn\'t very useful. Athena gave them an olive tree, symbolizing peace and prosperity. This was very useful and impressed the king,so Cecrops named the city after her and gave her claim of Athens. This angered Poseidon and he cursed Athens to never have enough water. Since then and still going on there is a water shortage going on.
