Career Problems
In 2003 she was attacked by a shark, and got her left are bitten off. To this day she will motivate a lot of kids, some of those kids with disabilities. When she was younger she knew she wanted to be a professional surfer. When that happened, it affected her career. I would think a personal goal for her, at the time, would be to swim and surf with just one arm.

Personal Goals
That morning she lost almost 70% percent of her blood, which almost immediately, made her feel like her goal to become the best woman surfer, had been completely crushed. One month after the attack she wanted to start surfing again, but this was a challenge because she was used to surfing with two hands but now she needed to learn to surf with only one arm. This was a major challenge that she had to overcome. She never gave up on her goals and she achieved her goal of surfing and won many awards for her surfing and overcoming her problems. When she was 8 years old she started to surf and became very talented at it. At the age on 9 she won a huge award for her age group, then she knew that surfing would be her thing. Maybe she was made fun of because she had one arm, but she didn’t care, all she knew was that she has a goal to achieve. She had to learn how to be able to balance when she was surfing.
