Gold is the seventy ninth element listed on the periodic table out of 118 elements. There are many physical properties of gold. Gold is a heavy metal and the color of gold is a bright yellow. Golds luster has a shine and glow to it. The ductility of gold can be beaten into very extremely thin sheets. Gold is capable of being bent or shaped easily without breaking or cracking any is a good electrical conductor. The hardness of gold is a relatively soft metal. Gold is usually hardened by alloying with copper, silver, and or other metals. Gold is a very dense metal.

These are the chemical properties of gold. The chemical symbol for gold is Au. The melting point of gold is 1,064 degrees or 18 degrees Celsius. The boiling point is 2,856 degrees Celsius. The atomic weight of gold is 197 pounds.

In 1851 gold was discovered in a new beginning of land in Australia. Later that year of 1851 gold was also discovered in Victoria at Bendigo. This new discovery of gold brought a rush of immigrants to Australia in search for a great fortune of gold. Many of these immigrants were from the California gold rush, while many Chinese immigrants also came seeking for either a fortune of gold or job opportunities to serve the miners in the fields to find gold.

The largest gold nugget ever found was named \'Welcome Stranger\'. The biggest gold nugget was founded by John Deason and Richard Oates on February 5, 1869 in Australia. Gold such a pliable element that it can be made into sewing thread to sew you clothes. One ounce of gold can be as far as 50 miles or more. The Olympic gold metals that were handed out in 1912 were entirely made out of real gold. The element of gold is so rare that the world pours more steel an hour, then the world has poured gold since gold was discovered. That is my science report about the element gold.
