Mercury is a shiny, heavy, silvery liquid and when it is melted it will turn into silver liquid. That is why it is known as quick silver. It is the only liquid metal.
Mercury can be frozen or changed into a gas. It does not react with oxygen but reacts with most hot acids. Its boiling point is 356.73C and its freezing point is -38.83C.
It is found in the earth\'s crust and half of the world\'s producers of mercury are Italy and Spain. It was first found by the Chinese 3500 years ago.
Mercury is poisonous to humans and is a toxic element. It can damage nerves, liver, and kidneys. Mercury is very harmful.
Some interesting facts about mercury are that it is used in some thermometers, barometers and fluorescent lights. It was named after the planet Mercury, which was named after the swift Roman God, Mercury because it flows swiftly in liquid form.
