Creating Internet Activities for Your Students

It's FUN and easier than you think...

Before Creating Your Own Activity
Here you will find three types of free (and easy!) Internet Activites to become familiar with: Filamentality Hotlist, Web Worksheet and a Track in TrackStar. (Note: If you are really comfortable with Teacher Web, you can also do this in Teacher Web: see the Global Awareness link and the Hunger, Genocide and War link.)

Step One: Check out the examples to the right. You can also "search" for other ones at the Filamentality, Web Worksheet and TrackStar websites.

Step Two: Open a Word document. You will use this to copy/paste the addresses of websites as you find them and to write notes/ideas for the sites.

Step Three: Find all of the internet sites you wish students to use for the lesson. As you find sites you like, copy the URL from the location bar and paste it onto the word document. Type some notes/ideas about the site so you will remember why you liked it!

Step Four: Decide if you will create a Hotlist in Filamentality, a Web Worksheet, or a Track in TrackStar: go to that website. You could make more than one today!

Filamentality
Go to Filamentality. Go to Start New Page. From there, it is fill-in-the blank and copy/paste (from the info in your Word document). Make sure you select Hotlist for the type of activity.

TrackStar
Go to TrackStar. In the Make a Track box, go to the choice "Create an Account and Start Making a Track". From there, it is fill-in-the blank and copy/paste (from the info in your Word document).

Web Worksheet
Go to Web Worksheet. Go to the very bottom of the page to "Start a New Worksheet". From there, it is fill-in-the blank and copy/paste (from the info in your Word document).

Have Fun and Happy Surfing!
