Making pie crust is as easy as pie. Finally, you slide the crust into the pie dish and cut off the excess dough. Next, add about 5 tablespoons of water, a little at a time until the dough stays together, but is not sticky. First, mix 2 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Then add 3/4 cup of lard or shortening by "cutting" it in with a pastry knife until the flour mixture is dry and crumbly. Flatten the dough ball onto a floured surface with your hands. Form the dough into a ball. Sprinkle flour onto the top of the slightly flattened ball. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a circle about 1/8 inch thick. |
