Language That Appeals to the Imagination and the Senses

Imagery appeals to the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell), while figurative language appeals to the imagination. Why do we call it figurative language? Because you have to figure it out!!

Figurative language is a tool that an author uses to help the reader see what is happening in a story or poem. Some common types of figurative language are: simile, metaphor, alliteration, personification, idiom, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, and sensory language.

As you enter this site, you will journey into an explosive environment engulfed in language so powerful that the experience will be like a ton of angry elephants tumbling into your living room.
