Protecting our environment has become one of the most challenging issues we face. This is a concept known as "Sustainability" which means to “…meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs..." or simply “enough for all forever” Sustainability is a Science topic because we talk about it in relationship with the environment but it is also a Social Studies topic because it means being a good citizen by helping the Earth. The ideas of Sustainability: - Interconnectedness - Systems Thinking - Global Citizenship - Cycles - Importance of Place - Respect for Limits - Social Justice |
