Where is Atlantis?

Imagine that you will be attending the Atlantis 2008 conference. This conference, held from July 11-13, will be on Milos Island, Greece. Remember - the first accounts of Atlantis come from the Greek philosopher, Plato. This conference "aims to serve as a forum for the presentation and constructive discussion of all the issues related to the hypothesis of the lost land of Atlantis. The purpose of the meeting is to gather specialists of all the different disciplines involved in highlighting the scientific aspects of this fascinating subject.”

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
You must create a position paper to present at the conference.

After reading abaout Plato’s account of Atlantis, you will search the other websites for information relating to the existence of this fabled city. Based upon the evidence, decide which of the possible locations is most probable.

After completing your research, you will construct a 2-3 page position paper. Your paper should meet the following requirements:

• It should be typed in a font no larger than 14 and be double spaced
• It should include a map of your location
• It should use evidence from the webquest sites to support your claim
• All sources should be cited within the text and the paper should include a Works Cited page (MLA format)
