The next step in writing an I-search paper is to create a KWL chart. Usually KWL charts have three columns. The “K” represents what you already know about the subject. The “W” represents what you want to learn and the “L” is what you learned about the topic. We are going to change this slightly. Today you are going to create the “know” page and the “want to know” for your chosen career. Refer back to your graphic organizer if you are drawing a blank. Create this document on Word. Type your name in the upper left corner. Title your paper KWL. On the line below KWL, type the word Know. (See the white board for an example.) Write a couple of well-written paragraphs about what you know about your career. When you finish THIS section print it and call in K of KWL. Save it in your Z drive. Now write a paragraph or two about what you would like to know about your chosen career. Title it KWL with the word Want to Know below it. Print it and call it W of KWL. Save it on your Z drive. |
