Reading: "Donovan's Word Jar" Remember to study for you THURSDAY Vocabulary Test. Reading skills tests and comprehension tests are also given each week. Students have a Reading Log which they are to maintain during the 9 weeks. 1st 9 weeks AR GOAL: each student is required to read 5 books during the nine weeks on their reading level. 3 of the books are to be chapter books and the other 2 may be the student's choice as long as the books are on the students individualized reading level. Social Studies: We will conclude the unit - Our Land and First People this week. The Unit Test and Vocabulary Test will be given on Friday, August 29. Students will have a teacher made review sheet to help prepare for this test as well as their own vocabulary review sheet. Please help your child to organize their binders so that they can lovate their papers for each subject area. This will be a great help to all! Language: The test over types of sentences will be on Thursday, August 28. We will begin to practice with a new Vocabulary Workshop list. The test over list 2 will be on September 5th. Science: Our work on ecosystems continues this week. Review the Ecosystem notes in the Science section of your binder. Please sign your child’s planner weekly. Please help us to protect our textbooks by using book covers. Labor Day Holiday is September 1. PTSO/Open House is September 8. If your child is absent, please report your child’s absence by 9:00 a.m. Attendance Line: 459-5120 *The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:55 p.m. Students arriving after 8:10 are tardy. It is essential that students be present the entire instructional day. Excessive tardiness or early dismissal from class may result in a student not receiving credit for the class periods missed. Students who accumulate more than 1 unexcused tardy or 1 unexcused early dismissal per nine weeks will not be eligible for yearly perfect attendance. A doctor’s note constitutes an excused tardy or early dismissal. All doctor’s notes must be turned in to the office when the student returns to school. |
