Job Search Strategies |
This will be the last unit in our Career Internship course. It will focus on job search strategies that will arm students with the skills necessary to secure a job in the workforce. This unit will address Standard 1.2 of the Family and Consumer Science Standards - Demonstrate transferable and employability skills in school, community and workplace settings. For an overview of the lessons and assignments in the final weeks of Career Internship, you may refer to the Calendar link. Note: Please review the Checklist for Career Presentation before presenting your Career PowerPoint presentation. The checklist will list tips to improve your presentation style as well as factors the instructor will use when evaluating your presentation. (Note: This was created using the ALTEC - PBL checklist site.) We will be completing these presentations before starting our Job Search Unit. Resume Development Lesson: Using the Track Star link, look at and compare three sample resumes that can be found on line. Consider what you wish to include on your resume. Open the Sample Resume link to review the format resumes created in Career Internship will follow. Open the Pre-Resume Worksheet link. Print the worksheet. Research the information and complete the worksheet. Select the Resume Wizard Guide. Read the guide to learn how to use the Resume Wizard Program and refer to it as you create your resume. Create a personal resume using the Resume Wizard program found in Microsoft Word. Interview Skills Lesson: Select the Interviewing Skills Worksheet link. Print the worksheet and complete it using the websites found within the Track Star link. Select the Interviewing Skills Quiz and take the quiz on line. If you have additional time, play the on line Job Search Game. Career Internship Final Project Select the Career Internship Final Project Worksheet link. Print the worksheet and complete it using the websites found within the Track Star link.
