You will be learning about parts of a book including the table of contents, glossary, & index. Your first task is to click on the Table of Contents link and read the Table of Contents, do Show you Know, and take the Quiz.. Now that you know about a Table of Contents you will create one of your own. Click on the Missing Pencil link (without sound). You will read the story and then create a table of contents for it. As you read the story make a list of the characters you meet. Think about how you would divide the book into chapters. You may need to go back and reread the story to create your table of contents. Write the characters and the table of contents on your worksheet. Next, click on the Index link and learn about an index. Take the quiz. On the back of your paper, create a five word glossary for The Missing Pencil. |
