Brownies

½ c. butter
3 oz unsweetened chocolate squares **(SEE Substitution Below)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. b.s.
½ c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Melt butter and chocolate in medium saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly. Remove from heat: Cool.

Grease an 8x8 or 9x9 inch baking pan; set aside. Stir in sugar into cooled chocolate mixture in saucepan. Add the eggs , 1 at a time, beating with a wooden spoon after each addition just until combined. Stir in vanilla.

In a small bowl sitr together flour and b.s. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture; stir just until combined. If, desired, stir in nuts. Spread the batter in the prepared pan.

Bake in 350° preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Cool pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

*** SUBSTITUTION: If you do not have Unsweetened chocolate squares you can use:
3 Tablespoons of cocoa powder + 1 Tablespoon oil for EACH 1 ounce square.
