Poetry: Past, Present, or Future
Past:
_____a decorated cover
_____a concrete poem created by you (not ones created as a previous class assignment)
_____three Haikus created by you (not ones created as a previous class assignment)
_____three well developed poems based off of previous class assignments. The poems must be GREATLY revised through addition of length (minimum of 100 words each), figurative language, and powerful word choice. You must include the originals to demonstrate this change.
_____a S.I.F.T analysis of two poems not read or discussed in class
_____a famous poem that you have memorized at least 60 words of. Include the poem in the portfolio so that memorization may be checked for accuracy.
_____a descriptive paragraph arguing the importance of one of the figurative language techniques using examples from famous works to support your ideas.

Present:
_____a well developed poem based off of a previous class assignment. The poem must be GREATLY revised through addition of length (minimum of 150 words), figurative language, and powerful word choice. The poem must be memorized and presented to the class with intonation and purposefully staged movements that enhance the poems. A great emphasis of the grade will be placed on the evident amount of preparation for the presentation.
_____a S.I.F.T analysis of two poems not read or discussed in class
_____a descriptive paragraph arguing the importance of one of the figurative language techniques using examples from famous works to support your ideas.

Future:
_____a well developed poem based off of a previous class assignment. The poem must be GREATLY revised through addition of length (minimum of 130 words), figurative language, and powerful word choice. The poem then must be turned into an animated, concrete poem. Such tools as live typography, PowerPoint animation, or stop action video may be used to complete this task.
_____a S.I.F.T analysis of two poems not read or discussed in class
_____a descriptive paragraph arguing the importance of one of the figurative language techniques using examples from famous works to support your ideas.
